Detox Your Mornings with this Spiced Moroccan Mint Latte
I know the feeling––
That taste of those rich beans, decadent milk, dopamine tingling sugary-sweet syrup that made up the absolute perfect autumn warm beverage.
That’s how every London-rain misted morning of my Masters degree program started.
Little did I know, within weeks I’d be faced with detoxing from caffeine to help cure debilitating insomnia and heal my ragged and confused hormones.
Forced to forgo my daily double Vanilla latte, I started experimenting with other ways to get my morning fix. Years later, I’ve landed on several wonderful, caffeine and refined-sugar free warm beverages and hot drinks that not only taste wonderful, but are infused with hormone healthy ingredients.
Today’s Spiced Moroccan Mint Latte is my faves.
If you’re on the lookout for a caffeine-free latte that’s not only delicious but also packs a punch of health benefits, if you're trying to detox from caffeine, give up sugary lattes, or simply want a healthier morning ritual, this Spiced Moroccan Mint Latte is for you.

Is caffeine bad for your hormones?
It’s more like caffeine can impact your delicate hormonal balance by impacting your estrogen levels, which in turn can your affect mood, menstrual cycle, and more.
Caffeine can also hamper the absorption of essential minerals such as iron and calcium, vital for bone health, and can interfere with your sleep—which is extra important when you’re trying to heal or take care of your hormones.
Caffeine is also a stimulant, so when you’re “taking it,” you’re interfering with your body’s natural energy rhythm. When you take a break from caffeine, you allow your body to relax into it’s organic energy rhythm on its own.
By seeking alternatives like this caffeine-free latte, you're doing your body, and your hormones, a favor.

Beyond its delightful aroma, vanilla has antioxidant properties that help prevent cell damage, and it may curb sugar cavings.

This aromatic spice is a digestive stimulant and has detoxifying properties. It's known for its ability to enhance circulation and improve mood.
Cayenne Pepper
Just a dash improves digestion, has anti-inflammatory properties, and can boost your metabolism.
Black Pepper

Oat Milk
Incredibly creamy, making it the perfect base for your latte, and provide a nice “full” feeling after drinking.
A note on Oat milk: Make sure it doesn’t have any hidden seed oils or emulsifiers in the ingredients. Here are two brands with 3 ingredients or less.
Forager Project Organic Oat Milk
Thrive Market Organic Oat Milk
Also, when Oat Milk is processed, it produces maltose, a kind of sugar. It’s not “added” as the label suggests, it’s created in processing. But, to help avoid a blood sugar spike, have a handful of nuts, or a protein snack beforehand.
Combining these ingredients not only makes for a tasty beverage but also turns your latte into a little cup of healthful bliss.
A note on ingredients, I only use organic ingredients to the best of my ability. A great source of discount organic groceries delivered directly to your home is Thrive Market, where I’ve been a member for years.

Now let’s get to it, our Spiced Moroccan Mint Latte.
The Perfect Blend:
Spiced Moroccan Mint Latte
Ingredients:
1 cup of oat milk
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
1 teaspoon of cardamom - (sifted or shaken into the milk to avoid clumps)
A dash of cayenne pepper
3 to 6 grinds of black pepper
3 bags of Moroccan Mint Tea brewed strong into 1/2 cup of water
Directions:
Brew your 3 bags of Moroccan Mint Tea strong into 1/2 cup of water. I steep mine for about 30 min to an hour or longer to get it as strong as possible.
Warm up your cup of oat milk on the stovetop in a pan.
Add the vanilla extract, cardamom, cayenne pepper, and black pepper to the mixture.
With a handheld frother, give it a good whirl until it’s nicely mixed and frothy. If you don’t have a frother, you could also blend it together in a blender.
Remove the tea bags and reheat your strongly steeped Moroccan Mint Tea. I like to reheat mine in a small sauce pot on the stove top.
Pour your reheated Moroccan Mint Tea into your favorite cup. Top with your frothed Oat Milk.
Sprinkle a tiny bit of cardamom on the top. I even sprinkle a teensy bit of cayenne pepper, but be very gentle. That can go overboard real quick.
Enjoy your delightful, energizing, caffeine-free treat!
